Delia Amézquita Delia graduated with honors from the Intercontinental University, with a Degree in Communication Science. She began her career as an Account Executive with the Silvia Pendás Agency , where she assumed responsibility for public relations of tourist industry clients such as The Westin Hotels & Resorts and The Galleria in Houston, Texas, in addition to others like Mitsubishi Electronics, Escada, and Maxim's. In 1993, Delia was invited to collaborate with the Tourism Department as Manager of Public Relations for North America and Asia, where she handled the development of the image, information, and crisis management campaigns in coordination with Edelman Public Relations worldwide. Delia took part in crisis management campaigns to protect the tourist related image of Mexico, contributing ideas and developing strategies along with the Edelman agency to counter the effects of unfavorable coverage in the foreign media related to events such as the rise of the National Zapatista Liberation Army (EZLN), in Chiapas, and the Kalvin hurricane in Cancun. A year later, she joined the Hotel Marquis Reforma as Public Relations Manager, where she established the communication area. During her tenure, the Marquis was the independent hotel with most mentions in the press, and it was rated as one of the top three, when compared to the chain hotels. She devised and organized events that promoted the hotel facilities, the most outstanding of which was an international one, which gathered 120 hotels from more than 50 countries. In six months, Delia advanced her position from the Operations Committee to the Directive Committee of the Hotel. In July 1996, she resigned from her position at the Hotel Marquis Reforma to travel to Australia, India and the United States, where she studied communications and public relations on her own, and also participated in social works. In October 1997, Delia joined Comunicación de Impacto as Executive Director and Professional Partner. In its first year of operation, the agency secured and organized public relations campaigns for clients such as Philip Morris and Hilton Hotels Mexico. In addition, she created the portfolio of clients composed by Douwe Egberts, the Ecological Green Party of Mexico, The Ritz-Carlton, Cancun, La Jolla de Mismaloya, and Pharmacia & Upjohn. Delia created the agency's operating systems and was leader of the project to write the Guidelines for Continuous Improvement, where she documented the company's customer service procedures. Under her management from the start-up of Comunicación de Impacto , the agency enjoyed client retention through contract renewals and increased the number of projects it managed from its clients, as well as captured new ones. She achieved an annual growth of over 100% in her portfolio of clients and billing. For two years, she maintained a zero percent turnover of the personnel under her supervision. Delia was a member of the first Editorial Board of the Reforma newspaper, and incumbent of the subject of Public Relations at the Universidad Intercontinental . Currently, Delia serves as an independent advisor and founder of MassIdeas, dedicated to consultancy in business communication and public relations. |
